The Museum

Our Koblenz wine and sparkling wine museum, established in 1969, is hidden in the heart of the city of Koblenz, in the vaults under the main building of the former Deinhard sparkling wine cellar.

Since then, time has rested there, in a positive sense – we invite you to take a journey into the past during our guided tours and let the soul and charm of the cellar vault work on you.

Our tour guides accompany you on your tour of our historical museum and explain the individual work steps of viticulture, as well as wine and sparkling wine production, using original equipment.

We offer guided tours in German, English, French and Russian.

The history

Deinhard Lila Symbolbild

The history of the former sparkling wine cellars in Koblenz looks back on more than 200 years of history. Originally founded as a wine shop by Johann Friedrich Deinhard on May 1, 1794, sparkling wines were produced here from 1843 using the traditional bottle fermentation process.

When Emma Deinhard, the granddaughter of the company founder, married Privy Councilor Julius Wegeler in 1861 and later took over the management of the company, the company grew into a modern sparkling wine manufacturer.

The Wegeler family is still connected to viticulture and our sparkling wine museum today.
